On August 2, the New York Department of Public Service released the final submission deadlines for the Self-Attestation Form and Data Security Addendum (DSA). Both forms are the end result of an EDI provider's data breach that occurred in March 2018. The Self-Attestation Form is a self-diagnosis of an entity's present cybersecurity infrastructure and protocols. The DSA is an agreement to adhere to certain standards of confidentiality set forth by the utilities and PSC. These documents generally pertain to energy service companies (ESCOs) and electronic data interchange (EDI) providers; however, certain third-party vendors with access to confidential utility information will also have to adhere to the standards laid out in the DSA. By signing these documents, energy service entities agree to maintain no less than $10,000,000 worth of cybersecurity insurance. Fortunately, GP Energy Management can connect you with carriers of cost-effective insurance options that provide you with the appropriate coverage in a timely manner.
